City of Farmington Hills Announces 2025 Construction Projects
Projects represent a multimillion-dollar investment in roads and watermains
The City of Farmington Hills is set to begin a series of infrastructure improvement projects, with the first project starting on Monday, April 7. These construction projects will enhance major and local roads and watermains. The total investment for this work is more than $33 million, largely funded by the City’s road millage, including $12.9 million for major roads, $14.1 million for local roads and $6.6 million for watermain improvements.
The largest project is the Halsted Road Reconstruction Project, which will replace concrete pavement from West Eight Mile Road to just south of West Nine Mile Road. The project is expected to begin in May and be completed in November. During construction, a portion of Halsted Road will be closed to through traffic. Traffic will be redirected to Haggerty Road via a posted detour. This work will affect approximately 14 thousand vehicle trips per day and will be a critical enhancement to the City’s infrastructure.
Prior to the start of construction for both local and major projects, the City will hold public information meetings for impacted community members. Residents in these areas will receive notification letters by mail with details about the project and meeting information. Additionally, signage at project locations will highlight road millage contributions.
