CITY OF FARMINGTON HILLS MAJOR ROAD PROJECTS

Eleven Mile Road Rehabilitation Project (Farmington Road to Orchard Lake Road)

Eleven Mile Road between Farmington Road and Orchard Lake Road is currently closed to through traffic for the duration of the project.
Local access for residents is being maintained from Power Road and Farmington Road.
Eleven Mile Road is currently closed to westbound traffic at Orchard Lake Road.
Eleven Mile Road is scheduled to be open to traffic the week of Sept. 9, 2024.

Visitors to City Hall will be directed to enter the campus from the driveway off Orchard Lake Road for access to all of campus including the safe transaction zone, mail, City drop boxes, etc.

GREAT LAKES WATER AUTHORITY PROJECT (GLWA)

14 Mile Watermain Loop Project (Citywide, primarily along the Haggerty Road/I-275 corridor)

Miscellaneous paving, restoration and plantings are nearing completion.

ROAD COMMISSION FOR OAKLAND COUNTY (RCOC)

Middlebelt Culvert Project (North of Nine Mile Road)

Middlebelt Road is completely closed to traffic north of Nine Mile Road.
A detour route has been posted that directs traffic around the closure utilizing Inkster Road.
Work is expected to be completed mid-to-late November.
Concerns with this project can be directed to the Road Commission for Oakland County Citizen Services Department at 248-858-4804.

MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (MDOT)

Northwestern Highway (Orchard Lake to I-696)

This is a short-term maintenance project that includes concrete curb and pavement repair.
Northwestern Highway will have intermittent lane closures and be reduced to one lane of travel.
Work is expected to be completed in the next seven days.

I-696 (I-275 to Lahser Road)

- This $275 million project includes rebuilding the roadway from the base up, storm sewer replacement work, overpass rehabilitation and rebuilding ramps at Orchard Lake Road, American Drive, Franklin Road, M-10 (Northwestern Highway), and US-24 (Telegraph Road).
- Work included in the 2024 calendar year includes the entire westbound I-696 from I-275 to Evergreen Road. This substantial work is expected to be completed by late November.
- The northbound Orchard Lake Ramp to westbound I-696 remains closed.
- The westbound I-696 ramp to I-275 and M-5 is tentatively scheduled to close to all traffic from 5 a.m. Saturday through 8 p.m. Sunday on the weekends of 9/7/2024 and 9/14/2024. The posted detour route utilizes Orchard Lake Road to 12 Mile Road to M-5.
