Art on the GRAND Returns to Downtown Farmington June 1-2
The City of Farmington Hills and the Farmington Downtown Development Authority are proud to present ART on the GRAND Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2, along Grand River Avenue in historic downtown Farmington. The fair will run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
ART on the GRAND is known for its friendly environment and approachable artists, spanning nearly a quarter mile on Grand River Avenue from Grove Street to Farmington Road. The event is also known for its high-quality art across varying price ranges and disciplines including ceramics, jewelry, painting, photography, wood, wearable art, glass, sculpture and more. Now in its 15th year, ART on the GRAND will feature more than 100 artists. This popular juried fine arts and craft fair welcomes over 40-thousand art lovers annually.
“ART on the GRAND is a celebration of the creativity, community and culture that unites, inspires and enriches our lives,” said Rachel Timlin, cultural arts supervisor for the City of Farmington Hills Special Services Department. “As one of the only cities in Michigan with a dedicated Cultural Arts Division, the City works year-round to uplift diverse artists and to make the arts accessible to all.”
ART on the GRAND also features Kids Art Alley, where more than 40 budding artists grades 5 through 12 will sell their own art. Kids Art Alley is located near the center of ART on the GRAND in the Huntington Bank parking lot. Fun activities will also be available to young fairgoers in the Kidzone, including art workshops with the Detroit Institute of Arts.
Admission to the festival and parking are free. ART on the GRAND is presented by the City of Farmington Hills Special Services Cultural Arts Division with the Farmington Downtown Development Authority, and sponsored by Farmington Area FiberCity powered by SiFi Networks and Pure Energy Window Company.
The City of Farmington Hills has the largest dedicated municipal Cultural Arts Division in the State of Michigan. The Division coordinates arts programming for the community, including classes, events, and activities in visual and performing arts, and year-round performances at The Hawk Theatre, to expose diverse populations to the arts. The City’s Cultural Arts Division also works to empower makers of all ages and abilities in The Hawk Makerspace, an immersive facility that allows makers to access a variety of state-of-the art tools and equipment, as well as a creative community with a wealth of resources and knowledge, to grow a new hobby or skill, from sewing to woodworking.
