Farmington Hills Police Investigating After Ongoing Workplace Dispute Leads to Shooting Near Eight Mile and Orchard Lake Roads

One person was injured in the Tuesday morning shooting

 

On Tuesday, Oct. 15 at approximately 8:05 a.m., Farmington Hills police responded to Specialty Steel Treating Inc., located at 31610 Eight Mile Road, after receiving a 911 call from a man who reported that he had shot someone in the parking lot. 

Officers arrived on scene and interviewed several individuals involved in the incident, including the subject who admitted to being involved in a shooting. A second individual was also identified after arriving at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg. That person is receiving medical treatment for his wound and was listed in critical but stable condition.  

Preliminary investigation has revealed that this incident was a result of an ongoing workplace dispute between two employees that turned violent. Officers, detectives and evidence technicians remain on scene interviewing witnesses and processing the crime scene. 

“At this time, there is no danger to the public. All involved the parties have been identified and the weapons involved have been seized,” said Farmington Hills Police Chief Jeff King. “I want to commend the speed and efficiency of our officers’ response, in containing and stabilizing this dangerous scene and ensuring the safety of our community”.
