Farmington Hills Police Investigating Possible Fatal Hit and Run

A man was discovered unconcious on the shoulder of Middlebelt Road and later

pronounced deceased, prompting the hit-and-run investigation

 

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. (Jan. 1, 2026) — On Jan. 1, 2026, at approximately 8 a.m., a 911 call was received from a citizen who advised that they had found an unconscious man lying on the shoulder of the road who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle. Farmington Hills Police and Fire Department personnel responded to the location on Middlebelt Road and Eldon Street, which is located between Nine and Ten Mile Roads.

 

Upon arrival, police and fire personnel began to provide emergency life saving measures. The man was transported to Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. 

 

The victim was identified as a 68-year-old man with a last known residence in Macomb County.

 

The Farmington Hills Police Department Traffic Safety Section is actively investigating this incident. The victim’s injuries along with evidence recovered from the scene lead investigators to believe the man was struck by a vehicle. Investigators are working to identify and locate the vehicle involved, as well as potential witnesses. 

 

The exact time of the crash is unknown, but investigators believe the crash occurred between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m.
