A 59-year-old Farmington Hills woman was arraign on a 15-year felony and two misdemeanors, in connection with the crash that killed one and injured two

 

A 59-year-old Farmington Hills woman was arraigned Wednesday in connection with the fatal crash on Orchard Lake Road in July.

 

Following the investigative efforts of the Farmington Hills Police Department’s Traffic Safety Section, the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office authorized a three-count warrant for the arrest of Kimberly Taylor, the driver who struck three Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) crew members this summer. Taylor presented herself to the Farmington Hills Police on Wednesday, Nov. 19 and was arrested.

 

Taylor was formally charged with one count of Moving Violation Causing Death in a Work Zone, a 15-year felony, and two counts of Moving Violation Causing Injury in a Work Zone, a one-year misdemeanor. She was arraigned at the 47^th District Court before Judge James Brady. Taylor was released on a $5,000 personal bond. The next court appearance is a pre-exam conference on Dec. 3 at 9 a.m. in front of Judge Brady.

 

The crash happened July 23, 2025, at 11:11 a.m. on Orchard Lake Road near Misty Pines Drive. The RCOC crew was outside of their vehicles working near the median, when a silver SUV hit them. One crew member, 43-year-old Cedric Jones, died at the scene and the other two members, 55-year-old George Thomas and 57-year-old Robert Dinkins, were transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Jones leaves behind his wife and six children.

 

“I would like to thank the families of the victims for their patience while we investigated the cause of this crash. The investigators worked diligently on this case, striving to determine how this tragic crash happened,” said Farmington Hills Police Chief John Piggott. “It is my hope that today’s arrest and arraignment will provide some comfort to the families, knowing that justice will be determined through the court system.”
