Building Maintenance Technician

Job Description

Participates in room setups for the variety of activities that take place in Special Services facilities and grounds. Works on holidays, weekends, and other callback assignments as necessary to ensure the continued safe and efficient operation of Special Services facilities and grounds. Supervises community service workers from the court work program who perform cleaning duties on weekends and setup duties throughout the Week. Performs winter maintenance of Special Services facilities and grounds including clearing and de-icing walkways and building entrances. Sets up audio-visual equipment for a variety of programs taking place in Special Services facilities and grounds. Oversees and schedules Building Attendants. Routine and special event trash pickup and disposal. Interior and exterior custodial duties in and around Special Services facilities and grounds. Good vision, including night vision, hearing, sense of smell, hand eye coordination and ability to wear personal protective equipment. 

Work is performed in an office environment, in storage areas, at loading dock, in pool and locker areas, in commercial kitchen and throughout buildings, and occasionally outdoors. Work is performed day and night, in all weather conditions including temperature extremes. Work includes exposure to confined spaces and hazardous chemicals used in the pool areas.

Work is performed in a garage, in a repair bay, in parks, athletic fields, golf course, in a vehicle, at construction sites, in city facilities and parking lots, within the roadway and around traffic where the employee may wear a hard hat and/or other safety devices such as safety vest or ear protection. Work is performed, day and night, in all weather conditions including temperature extremes. Exposure to muddy, icy, and uneven terrain, confined spaces, noxious weeds, odors, and noise.
